World Tour Slot

Most of us dream of taking a trip around the world and while it will probably remain a dream for most, perhaps you could get at least part of the way around if you land the right symbol combinations across the five reels of the World Tour video slot from The Art of Games. Eight exotic locations are used as the base symbols and there’s three different methods of getting around the planet that act as modifier symbols to trigger extra features. With wild substitutions, free spins, a pick me round and a mini-game to play, this trip could be a pretty exciting one.

Everything about this online casino game is themed around travel and transport. Above the reels we see a dog sled, London bus, Indian Tuk-Tuk and a camel, while railway tracks run to the left and right side of them. A thoughtful piece of design sees the bet indicators and win meters looking like road signs, while another sign points you in the direction of the paytable and even the Autoplay button is seen as a raised barrier across the tracks.

It all comes from Dutch company, The Art of Games, who have released over 100 slots, many with the same attention to detail and clever bits of design as World Tour. Most of the Art of Games slots range comes with extra features and they are all compatible with Apple, Android and Windows-powered mobile devices. To guarantee high return to player percentages and fair gaming, their slots are certified by independent testing labs, so you can start this journey around the world knowing that each place you visit is safe and you won’t get robbed.

Planning your Journey

Free World Tour video slots modes are available, but clearly there’s no real gains to be made unless you make cash wagers. The amount won from those bets depends on which symbols land across any of the 30 paylines in a continuous run from the left side reel, and payouts are quoted as multiples of the amount staked per line. While it’s common for many slots to use playing card symbols to fill out the bottom end of the pay scale, World Tour uses unique pictures from various destinations, which many players will prefer.

There’s a Venetian gondola that pays five times, 10x or 100x the line stake when it’s seen on three, four or five reels respectively, then the Tuk-Tuk, a Land Rover on safari and the huskies, which are each worth a little more. In the top half of the paytable, you only need to land matching symbols on the first two reels to collect a prize. These symbols consist of a yellow cab in New York, the London bus in front of the Houses of Parliament, and a camel by the Pyramids of Giza. A Chinese rickshaw being pulled in front of a pagoda-roofed building is the best symbol to see, as it pays you 20x your line bet when it’s on reels one and two, rising to 6,000x if it fills a payline.

Taking Flight with Special Symbols

A cruise ship can help you wave hello to some instant winnings when it’s seen in any three or more places at once. All you need to do is click one of these ships to receive a win multiplier bonus, while the airplane is another image that can have extra coins winging their way to your bankroll. It’s a wild symbol that can act as any standard icon if it lands in the right places to complete winning combinations. It won’t be worth anything on its own though and can’t substitute for any of the bonus symbols.

An old-style American steam locomotive makes tracks to a mini game when three or more are seen on a payline. A series of criss-cross train tracks are seen from above, each leading to a station. The aim is to click a track and then a train will head down and hopefully deliver parcels, although you get several attempts so don’t worry if the first couple of trains are empty. The potential prizes are higher when four or five locomotive symbols triggered the mini game.

The last bonus symbol is simply the World Tour game logo. When three of these stop in any positions you are treated to five free spins, while four logo symbols will start 10 extra spins and five or more will see 20 bonus games playing out. Standard reels are used throughout these, so the average win ratio will be the same as in the base games but having free spins on top of all the other features gives us a very generous mix of extra rounds to enjoy on the journey.

Paying for the trip

With great returns, you should on average see most of each wager paid back as winnings. Those bets can start from a low limit of just 0.30 per spin, up to 90.00 and at higher stakes, the payouts rise accordingly. Other control buttons activate the Autoplay mode which closes the barrier across the tracks and speeds things up a little as you won’t have to click for each spin of the reels.

Around the World in Eighty ways

There’s a few other slot machines that take players to far away destinations, such as Wheel of Fortune on Tour by IGT. It’s a five-reel, 30 line game that visits some of the most popular sites in the USA, such as Mount Rushmore, The Statue of Liberty and The Alamo. Any three bus symbols will trigger a spin on the Wheel of Fortune, with instant wins and new features to unlock. Just a single bus will start to fill a gas meter and once it’s been topped up, you move the bus along a map, where big rewards are waiting to be claimed.

The most famous fictional tour is still Around the World in 80 Days, by Jules Verne and slots developer Ash Gaming has their own creation based on the tale. It’s a Hi/Lo game where the aim is to move along a board by predicting if a wheel is going to spin up a higher or lower number each time. As you get to Paris, New York, the Great Wall of China and then London, you land bigger coin awards in this simple but fun game which can be played for free or real cash.

A Fantastic trip

This slot machine has some lovely design features as well as a whole series of rewarding bonuses. We liked the little animations that go with each win, as the bus rolls across the symbol position, the dogs start to run, or the plane flies out of view, all accompanied by the sounds of engines or barking. The rest of the soundtrack is the mechanical effect of spinning reels and a little jingle, but it’s nice enough and unlike many online casino slots, we left the sound turned up on this one.

If you play World Tour on an Android, Windows. iPad or iPhone mobile device, it works in landscape format and you can access all the same features, although some of the little details around the reels are lost. With up to 6,000x your line stake to collect, it’s got the potential to help pay for your adventure around the globe and we think World Tour is a great way to enjoy a slot machine from exotic locations or even when your relaxing on the sofa at home.
