Moulah, wonga, readies, cheddar, quids, dollars, Benjamins, dead presidents... the list of slang words for money is long and in some cases either confusing or hilarious. Dosh is one we can add to that, although it’s also one that seems to have fallen out of favour in recent times. Nevertheless, in the British Isles at least it’s an old go-to phrase, and one that everyone will recognise, even if they don’t personally use it much these days.
As such, by naming this online casino website Slots of Dosh when they set it up in 2011, the developers are clearly trying to tell us a few things. First up- this is a UK focussed offering. Secondly, it’s as down to Earth as stereotypes of driving a white van or drinking down the local Labour club. And, finally, there is plenty of money to be had by playing the games on offer, which, presumably, include slots.
Perhaps confusingly, then, when the homepage first loads up there’s a distinct lack of salt of the Earth Briton about the page. The static background image, at a glance, seems to depict Paris, the French capital, until you realise it’s actually a shot of Las Vegas, with its fake Eiffel Tower and glittering skyline of casinos. Of course this isn’t too jarring- Slots of Dosh is quite clearly a casino website, but it isn’t exactly in keeping with the overall brand name or positioning.
That complaint aside, you can quickly see that this is pretty up to date. The design is clean and nicely spaced out, meaning it’s easy to find what you’re looking for. The main slider image actually works as a slider, and runs through a selection of games you might want to play, advertising the mobile website along the way, and basically does exactly what it should.
One thing that is quite noticeable is the absence of any real reference to offers and promotions – most casino websites choose to put these, or at least a few of these, in the slider bar, because it’s so prominent, but considering the rest of this homepage is so well thought out we reckon this is less of an oversight, and more down to the fact that they don’t need to sell this one on a sign up bonus. Assumptions well and truly made, let’s see if we’re proven correct.
If you click on the Games tab at the top of the homepage you’ll be taken to an area that shows you what’s on offer if you sign up. The main image here is actually an advertisement for the main sign up offer, which gives you a £100 Welcome Gift, but we’ll come to that later. Scroll down, and you begin to get an idea of what joys you could be spending that hard-received money on. This alone is much better than a lot of casino and indeed bingo website, which seem to think it’s acceptable to make you sign up first, and ask questions about what there is to play later.
Ultimately, though, it’s not exactly a groundbreaking selection, but it is a pretty good one. There are stacks of slots to choose from, and as big slot fans this makes us very happy. Some old faves are in here – Starburst, Cleopatra, Jimi Hendrix, and Ghostbusters are a few that stood out immediately, and all are here in very good form. The slots overall are very up to date, although it’s not clear whether any are futuristic 3D or virtual variants.
This is where things start to slip a little from what we would expect. As you probably picked up on, first (and indeed second) impressions of Slots of Dosh are very good, but the Casino area is definitely lacking. And that’s not great considering this is a casino, rather than slots, website.
So you only have three options here, which is massively limited. Worse still two of those are Roulette, and only Blackjack, meaning Poker is completely missing. Poker is the most popular game in this office when it comes to full-range casinos, and as such the people behind this one have definitely slipped up and lost some points.
Instant Games are also pretty small in terms of choice. In fact, scratch that, they are very, very small in terms of choice- offering just one, which is Noughts and Crosses. Granted, we’ve never come across this one in all the time we have been reviewing casino websites, but that still doesn’t mean we’re entirely satisfied by this decision. Just get a couple more and this part of the website wouldn’t look so barren. It’s only a suggestion, but one worth picking up on.
There are also some Scratch Games included in Slots of Dosh, but sadly we can’t really rave on about these either. Again, there’s not enough to go at seriously, comprising of only two. Worse still, one of those is Noughts and Crosses, which also comes under Instant. When you see things like that- doubling up- it will only ever come across as disorganised on the part of the developers- what’s the point in having a separate Scratch section if you can find exactly the same in another part of the website? Answer- none.
Bingo isn’t the only game on offer, either. Within the Games section of the site you’ll see there are also Coverall Jackpots and Progressive Jackpots you can gamble on. Neither offer anything particularly new, but it is nice not to be completely limited to bingo and only bingo.
OK, so Bruce Forsyth has nothing to do with this, but still, everyone likes a little bonus. At Slots of Dosh that basically entails a £100 Welcome Package, which means your first deposit is matched at 100%, up to the value of £25. That may sound confusing, but the second deposit is when it starts to become more understandable- they will again match it by 100%, and again up to the value of £25. Finally, on your third deposit, you will again be matched at 100%, only this time it’s up to £50. £25, and £25, and £50= £100. Get it? There are several other offers and ongoing promotions that don’t just involve new players, but considering you’ll already need to have signed up to redeem those we’ll leave it to you to find out what they are.
Type | Amount | Match | Playthrough | Claim |
---|---|---|---|---|
First Deposit | £25 | 100% | 35x | Claim Bonus |
Second Deposit | £25 | 100% | 35x | Claim Bonus |
Third Deposit | £50 | 100% | 35x | Claim Bonus |
Like many online casinos, Slots of Dosh has a loyalty system, and like many online casinos, this is referred to as the VIP Club. Put simply, the more you play the more points you earn, and points increase your status in the website community and open up ever better rewards. That’s about all there is to it- hardly rocket science, but hardly anything to complain about, either.
Overall, then, Slots of Dosh is a decent casino for anyone not looking for the full-range, serious casino experience. If you are there are tons of other websites out there that do the job much better. All of which might make you ask why anyone would ever join this one.
Well, for starters, the games are fun and the cash winnings impressive. The loyalty system is also first rate, and the Welcome Package alone is generous, with several other very good incentive promotions making you want to come back again and again. Far from the best, but definitely above average, we like it, and you probably will, too.
